Exclusive: Stormtrooper action figure responds with sounds when you play with it

I've never seen an action figure quite like Hasbro's Star Wars InteracTech Stormtrooper.

Standing 12 inches tall, the Stormtrooper looks like any regular ol' action figure. It's made of stiff plastic and comes with a few points of articulation in the arms, legs and head. The paint job is pretty good for a toy that costs $29.99, but obviously it's nowhere near as detailed as what you'd find on action figures that are made for collectors.

Put a blaster in the guy's hand or strap a jetpack to his back, and the action heats up with lights and sounds that react to the figure's built-in motion sensors.

When I was a kid, my action figures didn't do anything when I played with them. They didn't light up and they certainly didn't make any sounds. OK, there were a bunch of action figures that did those things, but they were super expensive and my mom never bought them for me. (The kid down the block with the rich parents had those figures and all the boys on the playground hated his guts because he did.)

The InteracTech Stormtrooper is a toy I wished I had when I was a kid because it actually reacts when you play with it. Press the button on his belt and he'll talk to you; Hasbro says it can make over 70 sound effects, including phrases. Make a marching motion with the figure and it'll make marching sounds.

Put his E-11 blaster into his hand and an Imperial insignia will appear on his chest to let you know he's armed and dangerous. It makes blaster sounds when you flick him:

Strap on his jetpack and yellow shoulder straps will light up on his armor. With the jetpack on, the Stormtrooper makes swooshing engine sounds when you fly him around:

Mashable photographer Tyler Essary couldn't get enough of playing with the Stormtrooper:

The Stormtrooper is funny, too. Flip him upside-down and he'll turn up the sass:

Or toss him in the air or drop him on the ground and he'll yell out in agony:

All in all, the InteracTech Stormtrooper is one fun toy. But there's one downside I don't need The Force to foresee: If you buy this toy for your kid, they will annoy you to death with it... until the AA batteries run out, at least.
