EyeEm review

With EyeEm you can add filters and frames to the photos you take and view wonderful images posted by a global community of photographers. A photography tool and network 2-in-1, this app is a lot like Instagram but more geared toward professional photography.

Pros

Smart design: EyeEm stands out from other photo sharing apps thanks to its sleek design and intuitive navigation. You can quickly swipe to navigate between Discover, Friends, Missions, and Profile, while the camera button at the bottom of the screen enables you to snap a photo any time you please.

Great content: Arguably the app's most appealing feature, the Discover mode enables you to view images as a stream of albums that you choose based on your interest. The app is powered by a vibrant community of talented photographers, which post many great shots, not just the self-portraits and trite images you'll find on other sharing platforms.

Fun missions: A unique feature of the app is Missions, regular photography competitions with seasonal themes that you can take part in to showcase your shots and gain more exposure. You also get to see pictures taken around you, which can be inspiring.

Cons

Log-in problems: When we tried to sign up with our Google+ account, the app got stuck. We had to restart it and try several times before we finally managed to create an account.

Somewhat slow: The app takes a while to launch the camera and load photos. As you use it, the screen may occasionally freeze and lag.

Poor filters and frames: The filters and frames are not as great as Instagram's.

Bottom Line

If you enjoy sharing your photos with the world and want to discover beautiful shots from around the globe, you'll find EyeEm to be a highly engaging app. The sleek UI, vibrant community, and great albums make this a must-try photography app.
