GREENWOOD, Ind. (AP) — A Federal Aviation Administration spokesman says one person died and another was seriously injured when a single-engine airplane crashed in central Indiana.

Spokesman Tony Molinaro says the accident occurred about 2:20 p.m. Friday near Greenwood Municipal Airport. The Indianapolis Star reports that Greenwood Mayor Mark Myers says the plane crashed into a house.

Molinaro says the names of the victims weren't immediately available. He says the aircraft was destroyed and caught fire, but didn't have any additional details.

Greenwood is 12 miles south of Indianapolis.
