Branch Media, which builds conversation platforms Potluck and Branch, has been acquired by Facebook.

Proving that he's a company man already, cofounder and CEO Josh Miller announced the news this morning on Facebook writing that the social network wants his team to emulate his company's products on a larger scale.

Mr. Miller said his crew will be creating Facebook's Conversations group "with the goal of helping people connect with others around their interests." He noted that the team will continue to be based in New York and Branch and Potluck will continue to operate separately outside of Facebook.

In a 2012 Betabeat profile, Mr. Miller said the purpose of Branch was to streamline online conversations since they're usually overrun by trolls and know-it-alls.

He included a "huge 'thank you'" to his investors, which include Twitter cofounders Biz Stone and Evan Williams.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. A source told Recode the purchase was valued around $15 million.

Betabeat has reached out to Mr. Miller for comment, but he said his note was written "haphazardly from a mountain in Japan," so we'll keep you updated.
