Fake Occupy Wall Street TV Set Occupied by Real OWS Protesters

A fake "Zuccotti Park" camp built for an upcoming episode of Law & Order: SVU quickly became the target for the real Occupy Wall Street protesters who moved in to claim the tents as their own on Thursday night. Cops quickly dispersed the crowd and the highly-realistic set (complete with library and kitchen) was torn down in the middle of the night.

RELATED: Philosotoddlers, Heist Movies, and Your Sinister Television

The TV camp was set up in Foley Square, the downtown area surrounded by Manhattan's state and federal courthouses that became the brief home for the Occupy Wall Streeters after they were evicted from Zuccotti Park in a late-night raid last month. The Law & Order franchise is notorious for their "ripped from the headlines" story threads and is presumably building an episode around a mysterious #OWS sexual assault/murder at the protest. (Before devolving into an unrelated, but much more sinister crime, if show's usual pattern is any indication.)

RELATED: More on Who Controls Zuccotti Park

Many of the protesters on Twitter noted the irony that it's apparently easier to get a permit to shoot a fake protest than it is to actually hold a really one in New York City. Thursday night's "Mockupation" was more lighthearted than most actions as protesters teased police about tearing down a television camp, but they left quietly without any arrests being made.

RELATED: Politicians Get More Blame Than Banks for Economic Woes

Meanwhile in real Occupy news, protesters in Boston — which may the longest, continually standing camp — and Phoenix faced possible eviction deadlines last night. The reports from Boston are that police decided not to evict the protesters (despite warnings from the mayor about "further action"), though some Occupiers blocked the streets around Dewey Square, turning Atlantic Avenue into an impromptu "dance party."  It was a different story in Phoenix, however, as the tents there do appear to have been torn down by police and a handful of arrests have been made.

Are You Better Off Since Obama Became President…...and the Democrats took over Senate, House, and White House?
      .
President Barack Obama said in February 2009 that his presidency would be “one-term proposition” if the economy did not recover in three years, giving him less than six months from today.
      .
“Look, I'm at the start of my administration. One nice thing about the situation I find myself in is that I will be held accountable. You know, I've got four years,” Obama told The Today Show’s Matt Lauer on February 1, 2009.
      .
“A year from now I think people are going to see that we're starting to make some progress," said Obama. "But there's still going to be some pain out there. If I don't have this done in three years, then there's going to be a one-term proposition.”

      .
--The Stimulus failed and the money is all gone.
--Obamacare is looming with massive cost increases and corporations are cutting back to be able to pay for it which means they have stopped investing & hiring.

--Obamas appointees are regulation happy which means that corporations are looking at potential costs, and are cutting back expenditures and not hiring or investing.

--Obama and the Democrats have spent over 4 trillion dollars to date and their promise of unemployment below 8% was dead wrong.

--The US credit rating was reduced because Obama ran 4 trillion in deficits and the Democrats have not passed a budget since October 2009.

--Obama is demonizing the banks for not freeing up lending, when Dodd Frank bank regulation has taxed them with tens of billions of cost, and government regulators have harassed them over foreclosures causing them to delay releasing foreclosed homes on the market and thus incur higher costs.

Who Got Fannie Freddie Campaign $
      .
Who were the top 5 recipients of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac Campaign Contributions from 1998 to 2008? According to public records reported in the press, of the top 5 candidates, its as follows:

      .
      1.Christopher Dodd, Democrat, US Senator
      2. John Kerry, Democrat
      3. Barack Obama, Democrat
      4. Hillary Clinton, Democrat
      5. Paul E. Kanjorski, Democrat.
      .
Of the top 25 politicians countrywide Mr. Obama's Presidential Opponent does not appear on the list. So who is really in the pocket of lobbyists? Who was Fannie and Freddie counting on to keep the regulators away as the mess was underway?

      Who Bet Your Fannie?
      .
I have watched the youtube clip on the Fannie Mae hearings and I am outraged. Back in 04 this could have been addressed and yet the Democrats stood up one after another to protect Fannie while the Republicans struggled mightily to fix the problem. Perhaps the fact that Franklin Roosevelt created it and Lyndon Johnson privatized it made it difficult for the Democrats to tighten regulation on it but in the end the Democrats stalling in 2004 and their recent prevention in the past two years of George Bush's efforts to get them to tighten controls on Fannie and Freddie may have generated a Depression.

      .
Now that we know who created this problem decades ago and who refused to fix it, we now know to vote the Democrats out in coming elections and watch them damned carefully until we are rid of them.

…..Bush ran an average of 250 bil a year in losses for his first 7 years and just under 1 trillion in his final year, including about 750 bil of tarp (and tarp is being repaid in full). If tarp is repaid Bush will have run up roughly 2 trillion in debt in 8 years. FYI, as to his tax cuts for ALL, tax revenues increased during his presidency, after the tax cuts…as predicted by modern economic theory.

……Obama has run a 1 trillion plus deficit each of his first two years in office and is proposing a nother record setting 2011 budget deficit of 1.65 trillion. That is 4 trillion in 3 years.

......When we run out of deficit spending money, what will happen to the US economy? When that radical crazy demaocrat spending had boosted the total US interest payments, pushed up interest costs, devalued the US dollar and pushed inflation over 6% what happens? Spending your way out of a recession is not sustainable, it leads to another recession. Its econ 101.

…..Under the circumstances, what kind of President or Political party would have the audacity to submit a 1.65 trillion dollar deficit laden 2011 budget?

Obama's Debt Ceiling Flip Flop – Your Choice, Was It A Lie Or Stupidity?
      .
President Barack Obama opposed increasing the debt ceiling in 06. Here is a direct quote from Obama back then when he voted against increasing the debt ceiling:

      .
“The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. … Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that ‘the buck stops here. Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.”

      .
Though he opposed the debt limit in 2006, in 2007 and in 2008, when the Senate voted to increase the limit by $850 billion and $800 billion respectively, Obama did not even bother to vote for or against it. On the other hand, he did vote for TARP while in the Senate, which increased the debt limit by $700 billion.

      .
The audacity of his flip flop is amazing.

Occupy Wall Street Vendetta Mask Has Domestic Terrorism Overtones.
      .
The vendetta mask is a Guy Fawkes mask. Historically, on 5 November 1605, Guy Fawkes a member of the Gunpowder Plot, was arrested while guarding explosives the plotters had placed beneath the House Of Lords.

Guy was a domestic terrorist who was going to detonate a bomb underneath the seat of government in England.
Wearing the Vendetta mask and embracing the imagry & the history of that mask carries terrorist overtones.

85% of the most poorly educated and chronically unemployed vote solidly Democrat. 95% of both groups voted for Obama.
      .
13% of the population is african american and about 15% is latino or 28% total and they almost exclusively vote Democrat.
      .
1/4 of our registered voters are represented by these two groups.
      .
That means that about 1/2 of registered democrats have educations and jobs and the other half don't.
      .
Furthermore if 50% of Americans are not paying any federal taxes after the earned income tax credit, we can reasonably and statistically assume that a very large percent of democrats pay zero federal taxes. These folks, be they Democrat, Republican or Independent, have no skin in the game and don’t care if we run deficits as long as they pay not one dime in federal taxes at the end of the day.

      .
Basically 25% of our population are deciding our future by buying the votes of the 25% poorest and most poorly educated Americans.
      .
Is all of this a good thing for our republic's financial health? Has voting Democrat been good for African Americans & Latinos, let alone America as a whole?

If 50% of the people in this country pay no federal taxes after the earned income tax credit, how is if fair to increase the taxes on those who do?

      .
If you want fairness, you have to end the earned income tax credit.
      .
Unless everyone is forced to pay even a small amount of taxes and has some skin in the game in terms of caring about how efficient or fair government is, then this is not a truly representative democratic republic.

Agreed. Now, good luck trying to convince the whining streets "protestors" of that.

The irony is that if they get their way, they will be MUCH POORER, as a result. Kinda funny . . . and sad.

You can't evict stupidity, they'll be back. I need the entertainment. Too bad they cost the real citizens who work hard so much money to clean up after them, just like their parents. Give them a trophy, maybe they'll take the time to bring it home and show their mom and dad.
