Falcao leaves Portuguese hospital after knee op

PORTO, Portugal (AP) — Radamel Falcao has left hospital in northern Portugal after successfully undergoing surgery on a torn ligament in his left knee.

Leaning on crutches the Colombia striker left Porto Trindade hospital where knee specialist Jose Carlos Noronha operated on him Saturday.

Carlos Ulloa, head of the Colombian Football Federation on Tuesday accompanied Falcao to a hotel in the city of Porto, where the striker will rest and recuperate for three weeks before flying back to his club.

Noronha told reporters Monday that Falcao had a 50 percent chance of being fit enough to play in the World Cup with Colombia set to play its first match against Greece in Brazil on June 14.
