Fall Branch church vandalized, sheriff reports

Update: An update from the WCSO said deputies have apprehended a juvenile suspect. An investigation is still ongoing.

FALL BRANCH, Tenn. (WJHL) – The Washington County, Tennessee Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) is asking for the public’s help after a church in Fall Branch was vandalized.

A news release from the WCSO states vandals spraypainted the walls and doors of the church and broke property at the Fall Branch United Methodist Church.

The church caretaker told the sheriff’s office that the vandalism likely occurred between 8 p.m. Wednesday and 8 a.m. Thursday.

Words were spray painted on the exterior of the church in blue. An overhead light bulb and globe were taken apart; the bulb was broken, and the globe was found in the church’s yard.

A spotlight aimed at the church was also moved but not broken. The WCSO reports a piece of marble at the church was also broken in half.

There are no cameras at the church, the release states.
