Fandango Launching ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ Pre-Sales

Fandango has launched ticket sales for Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” nearly two months before its May 1 opening.

The two-month gap between advance sales and the release is much wider than normal and reflects the heavy fan anticipation for the second “Avengers.”

Fandango launched advance sales for Lionsgate’s “The Divergent Series: Insurgent” a month before the film hits theaters nationwide on March 20. Tickets for the second “Hunger Games” movie – “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” — went on sale on Oct. 1, 2013, for its Nov. 22, 2013, release date.

Marvel and Disney released the final trailer for the tentpole on Wednesday. Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo and Jeremy Renner will reprise their roles from the first film, with James Spader joining the cast as villain Ultron.

UPDATE, 12:10 p.m. PT — The movietickets.com site also launched advance sales on Wednesday.
