We’re still more than a week away from the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c’s release on September 20th, but that’s not stopping eager Apple fans in Japan from lining up to be among the first to purchase the new phones. Agence France-Presse reports that excited iPhone fans began lining up in Tokyo on Wednesday in anticipation of the new iPhone models’ release — which won’t happen for another nine days. “I’m glad to have secured first place,” Tetsuya Tamura told AFP. ”Being here gets my adrenaline going. I am using up my annual leave to be here, but getting the first handset will make it all worth it.” As silly as that sounds, lines in New York already began forming last week. Apple announced on Tuesday that Japan’s largest carrier NTT DoCoMo will begin offering its new iPhones for the first time this year, and it’s about time — AFP notes that DoCoMo has lost 3.5 million subscribers since rival carrier SoftBank began selling the iPhone in 2008.
