Fashion agenda: Cartier expo, New York International Bridal Week

'Aquarium' by Beatriz Milhazes is one of the artworks to appear in the 'Cartier, Jeweler of the Arts' exhibition.

Wedding trends will be at the forefront of some of the biggest upcoming fashion events, with New York International Bridal Week taking place April 14 and Sarah Burton's wedding gown for Catherine Middleton nominated in the fashion category at London's Design Museum Awards. Seoul Fashion Week
April 2-7
Seoul, South Korea

For its Fall/Winter 2012 edition Seoul Fashion Week will take place at a new venue, Olympic Park’s World Peace Plaza in the south east of the city. Established designers including  Kim Dong-soon and Jang-kyuoung will showcase their latest collections, while the Generation Next tent will promote rising designers.

Cartier, Jeweler of the Arts

April 3-21
Paris, France

Four artworks commissioned by French luxury jewelry house Cartier will be showcased together in Paris for the first time since their various appearances at events including Art Basel and Art Basel Miami. Made using precious and semi-precious stones no longer deemed suitable for Cartier jewelry, the pieces were made by Japanese filmmaker Takeshi Kitano, American filmmaker David Lynch, Italian architect Alessandro Mendini, and Brazilian artist Beatriz Milhazes. Prior to the expo, Milhazes's ‘Aquarium' was presented at Art Dubai in March 2012. Reservation with the Visitor's Department is necessary. New York International Bridal Week

Taking place a month before Europe's prestigious Barcelona Bridal Week, the New York International Bridal Week is a trade event welcoming leading wedding dress designers  from the US and Europe, attracting the likes of Anne Barge, Claire Pettibone, Casablanca, David Fielden and Eve of Milady to showcase their latest creations.

Design Museum Awards

April 24

This prestigious ceremony organized by London's Design Museum looks at creations across a host of categories including architecture, furniture and fashion, with the winner from each section and an overall winner announced at an awards ceremony April 24. Fashion nominees include London-based designer Mary Katrantzou's and French label Céline's Autumn 2011 collections and Sarah Burton's wedding gown for Catherine Middleton. Contenders will be on show at the Designs of the Year exhibition at the Design Museum, which is running until July 15.

Hyères International Fashion and Photography Festival

April 27-30

The 27th edition of this parallel fashion and photography event will begin April 27, with one of the most anticipated elements being the annual competitions, which have in the past recognized design talent such as Viktor & Rolf. Fashion nominees for this year include the UK's Kim Choong-Wilkins, France's Daniel Hurlin and Canada's Steven Tai. Shortlisted photographers include America's Brea Souders, Japan's Akira Somekawa and the UK's Richard Kolker.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia

Formerly known as Rosemount Australia Fashion Week, this upcoming Spring/Summer 2012 edition welcomes new sponsor Mercedes-Benz. Big Australian names such as Lisa Ho and swimwear and clothing designer Zimmermann are on the line up, while street style photographer Tommy Ton is just one of the big name bloggers to be attending along with Susie Bubble of Style Bubble, who will present a series of talks discussing the evolving contemporary face of fashion.
