Lame Duck Day
If President Barack Obama does not win the election in November he will be considered a "lame duck." The term dates back to the 1700s and applies to "an elected official who has not been re-elected, but still holds office" according to U.S. Constitution.net.
This period was needed because transportation was slow and the newly elected politicians needed time to travel. The 20th Amendment shortened the time between Election Day and the beginnings of terms for the elected officials.
National Frozen Yogurt Day
Frozen yogurt has been around since the 1970s. It took a solid decade to gain popularity and by the 1990s frozen yogurt claimed "10 percent of the frozen dessert market," according to Coldstone Creamery.
While the initial attraction of frozen yogurt was that it was "healthier" than ice cream, today's frozen yogurt can be just as decadent as you average ice cream. It can be topped with candy and cookies.
Free frozen yogurt will be available at Yogurt Day on Monday, Feb. 6, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at all participating U.S. Yogurtland locations.
Nutella Day
What is this stuff? It's a smooth combination of sugar, palm oil, ground hazelnuts (50 per jar), cocoa powder, skim milk and vanilla extract, according to Nutella USA. Nutella can be spread on bread or heated slightly and used as a dip for pretzels, bread or bananas.
Pastry maker Mr. Pietro Ferrero created the nutty spread in the 1940s. Due to World War II rationing there was little cocoa available so he focused on hazelnuts, according to Nutella.

60th Anniversary of the Accession of Queen Elizabeth II
King George VI died Feb. 6, 1952. His daughter, Princess Elizabeth Alexandra Mary, succeeded to the British throne on the same day. Her coronation took place later that same year on June 2, when she took the title Elizabeth, Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and Head of the Commonwealth.
She's ruled for 60 years, and is quickly approaching the "record" held by "Queen Victoria, who reigned for 63 years and seven months, longer than any other British monarch," according to The Royal Household.
