Few answers so far in pregnant NYC woman's death

NEW YORK (AP) — Neighbors of a pregnant woman found stabbed to death in her New York City apartment the day before her wedding say she had only moved in a few weeks ago.

Vindalee Smith, 38, was found on the floor of her home in the East Flatbush section of Brooklyn on Saturday.

Police say she had stab wounds including a gaping wound in her neck. Her unborn child did not survive. Autopsy results are expected Sunday.

Police say there was no sign of forced entry, and no weapon has been recovered. Investigators are looking for a possible suspect and have spoken to Smith's fiance as well as friends and family.

Smith was a devout Seventh-Day Adventist and attended New Dimension Church, about half a block away.
