Film trailer: Meryl Streep in 'Hope Springs,' geared for boomers

The first trailer for the dramedy Hope Springs starring Oscar winner Meryl Streep, Tommy Lee Jones (Men In Black III) and Steve Carell (Date Night) was released April 26.

The story follows Streep and Jones as a married couple whose relationship has gotten stale over 30 years. To reignite the spark they attend a retreat led by a renowned counselor, played by Steve Carell, and scenes are punctuated by Jones's droll humor.

This romantic comedy for the 50+ crowd is directed by David Frankel, who worked with Streep on The Devil Wears Prada. It joins other films targeted for the boomer market such as Darling Companion starring Diane Keaton and Kevin Kline, released last weekend, and the British Best Exotic Marigold Hotel with Maggie Smith and Judi Dench.

Hope Springs opens in August 10 in North America, the Netherlands and Australia, rolling out in other countries through December, and hitting the UK on January 4, 2013.
