Arden Fair Mall suing Forever 21 over unpaid rent

(FOX40.COM) — The owners of the Arden Fair Mall have filed a lawsuit against Forever 21 for unpaid rent.

The retailer is accused of failing to pay a total of $88,059 to the mall from November 15, 2023 through April 1, according to court documents.

Mall owners, who are named as Arden Fair Associates on court documents, are also asking the retailer to pay late fees by each month rent was not paid and attorneys’ fees.

Forever 21, named on the lawsuit as F21 OpCO LLC out of Delaware, is also being asked to be an interest rate of $2 until its rent is paid.

Court documents said that Arden Fair and Forever 21 entered to a leasing agreement on July 22, 2020 and agreed to its current lease on June 13, 2023 with an extension of the term through Jan. 31, 2027.

The Forever 21 store at the Arden Fair Mall is 16,157-sqaure-feet and is one of two locations in the Sacramento region. The other Forever 21 store is at the Folsom Premium Outlets.

The retailer recently closed down its Roseville location on March 31 after 15 years of business at the Westfield Galleria.

Forever 21 currently has 62 stores across California.
