Jocelyn Martinez, founder of SoulSmile Health & Wellness, 2101 W. 20th St., announced this week that the Westside Hyde Park community garden is being planted.

"We are hoping and excited for an abundance of fresh, local grown produce which will be available for the community. Keep posted in the upcoming months to hear more about our garden and how the garden will be available for picking," Martinez said.

Pueblo Board of Water Works releases water quality report

Pueblo Water’s annual Water Quality Report has been released for the 2023 calendar year.

The report, which contains general information about Pueblo Water’s system and treatment operations, as well as water quality testing results, may be viewed online at tinyurl.com/y43rd4yv. Requests for printed copies can be made by calling 719-584-0250 or via email atcustserv@pueblowater.org.

Landlords to meet May 24

The Southern Colorado Residential Rental Association is set to host its monthly meeting at 10 a.m., May 24, followed by lunch at 11:30 a.m. at Pueblo Union Depot, 132 W. B St.

The class will focus on insurance for rental business owners, presented by Kevin Keilbach of HUB International Insurance. The luncheon will include an update on eviction forms and other pertinent bills signed into law, plus a representative with the Pueblo Department of Public Health and Environment will discuss what the agency can do to help landlords.

For members, the lunch costs $18 and the class is free. Non-members are welcome to attend the class for $25 and lunch for $25.

Pueblo Library District wins $250,000 grant for digital archiving project

The Pueblo City-County Library District was awarded a $250,000 grant from the Mellon Foundation to go toward preserving the history and culture of communities throughout southeastern Colorado through a digital archiving project.

Funds will go toward creating Regional Memory Labs where residents can digitally preserve old photos, slides, documents, audio and videos.

The labs will be shared with partnering organizations within 16 counties, including Alamosa, Baca, Bent, Conejos, Costilla, Crowley, Custer, Fremont, Huerfano, Kiowa, Las Animas, Otero, Prowers, Pueblo, Rio Grande and Saguache.
