A national retailer with two locations in South Mississippi has filed for bankruptcy and will close all its stores, including at D’Iberville and Gulfport.

Rue 21 was among the original stores at The Promenade when the shopping complex in D’Iberville opened in 2009.

The company also was among the first tenants at Gulfport Premium Outlets when it opened in 1995.

These Coast stores along with seven others in Mississippi are among all 540 in the national chain that will close.

Headquartered in Pennsylvania, the company sells teen fashions at malls, outlets and strip shopping centers across the country. It had filed for bankruptcy twice before in 2003 and 2017 and reorganized.

The company website says it is being updated, but a liquidation sale at all locations is expected in the next 4-6 weeks, according to reports.
