Mama Elda's Mexican restaurant and bakery in Plover is for sale. The restaurant announced on its Facebook page last week that Mama Elda has decided to pursue other business endeavors and will sell the restaurant. According to the post, the restaurant does not have a closing date but will set that date once a buyer purchases it. Mama Elda's will still operate through the end of May with limited hours.

"Words cannot express how grateful we are to have served this wonderful community," the post said.

Mama Elda's opened in December 2021 at 1828 Plover Road in Plover. Brigitte Benitez-Vargas told the Stevens Point Journal her mother always wanted to open a restaurant. When Benitez-Vargas was in college, her friends would all come to the house for meals, affectionately calling her mom Mama Elda. The restaurant has been a family business, with Benitez-Vargas working with her mom and two sisters.

Sheridan announced last month it installed a new GIGI-B Digital Edge-Colouring T3-OPX machine at its Sheridan Worzalla facility at 3535 Jefferson St. in Stevens Point. According to the announcement, the investment in new equipment will help the company meet the growing demand for edge printing in the trade market.

The new machine will allow Sheridan Worzalla to handle edge printing, a recently popular technique for publishers that offers a more unique look that stands out on shelves and online retail platforms, Sheridan said in its announcement. It also allows four-color printing in a single pass, offering more efficiency, the announcement said.

Worzalla, a printing company based in Stevens Point, was sold to CJK Group Inc., a Minnesota-based company, last year. The company announced last September it would be renamed Sheridan Worzalla. CJK Group's Sheridan family of print companies prints books, magazines, journals, catalogs and commercial materials.

Sentry Insurance has recently been recognized as a top employer in multiple publications.

In March, Sentry announced it had been recognized by Forbes as one of America's Best Midsize Employers. According to the release, Forbes selected its list in collaboration with Statista, an analytics firm, based on an independent survey of 170,000 American workers. The workers were asked about every aspect of their work experience. Midsize employers were considered as companies with 1,000 to 5,000 employees.

Last month, Sentry announced Newsweek named Sentry as one of its 2024 America's Greatest Workplaces for Women. According to that release, Newsweek worked with Plant-A Insights Group and interviewed more than 142,000 women working across the country and collected more than 848,000 company reviews, focusing on corporate culture, working conditions and other aspects of the company. Sentry was one of 54 insurance companies and one of 24 Wisconsin companies to make the list.
