This Utah city to see groundbreaking of nearly $50 million hangar development

SPANISH FORK, Utah (ABC4) — Groundbreaking for Spanish Fork’s Utah Aviation Business Park, which will have more than 25 hangars, is expected this week, according to Spanish Fork City.

Utah Aviation has reportedly invested tens of millions of dollars to build 51 hangars at the airport over the last six years. The completed hangars range in size from 3,600 to 21,000 square feet.

This project will feature 26 hangars, some costing up to $5 million and sized at 54,000 square feet.

“These hangars offer ample space and flexibility to accommodate various aircraft types and uses,” a release from Spanish Fork City states.

Groundbreaking of the new development is scheduled for Friday, May 17 at 11 a.m. It will take place at the Spanish Fork Airport on the west side of Main Street across from the WestRock Plant, located at 2200 North Main St.

“One of the key features of Utah Aviation’s development is its emphasis on bringing businesses to Spanish Fork. Many of the hangars have already been purchased or leased by private businesses,” the release states.

One of the most notable tenants — FLT Academy — already has a fleet of 15 aircraft at the airport and plans to increase that number to 50 by 2027. The academy provides students with a direct path toward professional pilot careers, and an increase in this size would enable it to train around 200 pilots every 14 months.

Hangars at the airport are reportedly still available across all sizes and price ranges. Interested parties should contact Brandon Wilson at 801-360-9153 or Steve Wilson at 801-592-9107 for more information.

The Spanish Fork Airport/Woodhouse Field (KSPK) is the fourth-busiest general aviation airport in the state of Utah.
