    Financial Modeling Software for Investment Analysis Released by Verdant Analysis

    Verdant Analysis, Inc. announces the release of their free web-based financial modeling software for security and investment analysis.

    Verdant Analysis wants to make financial analysis more effective by making it easier to build financial models.

    Financial analysis for the purposes of investment is the process of turning the information found in financial statements into knowledge of a company's potential. Building financial models is the primary means to do this.

    Financial models are used in discovering investment algorithms. They are used in quantitative and fundamental analysis. Financial models are used to find the next growth stock and in value-investing strategies.

    Financial models are simply mathematical constructs built from financial data. The data includes, but is not limited to, financial statement information.

    The constructs can be simple two factor ratios or they can be use more complex, using many points of data over several time periods. The data can also be used to build equations and to calculate statistical coefficients.

    Whether complex or simple, its consistent use will tell a firm's story over time and relative to its peers.

    However, building and maintaining financial models is either very time intensive or very expensive using available software solutions.

    "Verdant Analysis solves the perennial problems of time and money in performing financial analysis," says Jennifer Cameron, CEO and co-founder. "We're offering a free-forever version of our cloud-based application."

    Verdant gives users the ability to build financial models using the financial statement line items and current market information of all publicly traded securities in the United States and Canada. The company also calculates the 60-month beta and alpha for each security in its database.

    The financial models can then be applied to portfolios of securities. The design of the application allows for both vertical and horizontal analysis of firms.

    Once a model is built, the data does not go stale when new financial statement information comes out. “We normalized the data so that when a user requests information from the most current quarter, as an example, he or she always gets the most current quarter,” says Cameron.

    In addition, Verdant has developed a complimentary social platform. Users can publish and tweet security price predictions (as well as keep them private). They can also view, comment on, and tweet the predictions of others.
