Fire breaks out at truck depot in northwestern Delaware County

MUNCIE, Ind. — A fire Monday morning at the R & L Carriers truck depot in northwestern Delaware County drew firefighters from departments in three counties.

The blaze apparently started in a trailer parked at the facility, at 14949 N. Ind. 28 west of Interstate 69, and reportedly spread to other trailers and the depot structure.

At one point those at the scene reported hearing an explosion. No injuries were reported.

The blaze was reported to Delaware County emergency dispatchers at 10:07 a.m. Investigators — including a representative of the State Fire Marshal's office — remained at the scene after 2 p.m.

Firefighters at the scene included those from departments in Gaston, Eaton, Albany, Daleville, Yorktown, Hamilton Township, Pipe Creek Township, Alexandria and Fairmount

The Delaware County Emergency Management Agency, members of the local hazardous materials team and Delaware County sheriff's deputies were also at the scene.
