Fire early Wednesday damages several buses at Palmer Bus Service in New London

Dec. 9—NEW LONDON — Several buses were damaged around midnight Wednesday, Dec. 8, in a large steel building at Palmer Bus Service in New London, according to a news release from the New London Fire Department.

According to the release, fire crews arrived to see heavy smoke and fire from the south side of the building.

"Firefighters made an aggressive attack and were able to get the bulk of the fire knocked down within minutes," reads part of the release, but fire crews were on scene for three hours.

One bus was destroyed with fire and smoke damage to the building and smoke damage to other buses.

Palmer Bus Service was able to secure buses from other locations so school transports were on time.

The total extent of the loss was unknown at the time of the news release.

No injuries were reported and the fire is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal's Office.

The Spicer Fire Department, New London Ambulance, Lakes Area First Responders and Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office also responded to the incident.
