Fire at Nintendo Customer Repair Warehouse

A serious fire ripped through a Nintendo UK customer repair warehouse last Wednesday, though no injuries have been reported since and the impact on the Mario maker's business appears to be minimal.

The Coventry Telegraph writes that the Repair Tech blaze was significant, with dispatchers sending a total of ten firetrucks to the scene at an industrial park on Westfield Rd. in Southam.

Repair Tech is a company used by Nintendo UK to fulfill customer repairs.

"Nintendo UK only used the warehouse for UK based product repairs and storing of associated repairs equipment; it did not contain stock that would at any point be sent to a retailer for sale to the public," the company told MCV. "We are pleased to confirm that no one was hurt."

The company has reached out to gamers who had Nintendo products in for repair, informing them they will receive free replacements and some eShop credit.

The fire was particularly tough to fight, responders said, because the IT components set ablaze yielded black smoke. The fire was also spreading very quickly, adding to the complexity of fighting it. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.
