First American Financial names Seaton chief financial officer, Valdes retiring

SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) -- Financial services company First American Financial Corp. said Thursday that it named Mark Seaton its chief financial officer. He replaces Max Valdes, who is retiring after 25 years with the company.

Seaton has been with First American Financial since 2006, most recently as senior vice president of finance. Before First American, he worked in private equity and investment banking.

Valdes will remain with the company until next March to assist with the transition.

First American Financial rose 62 cents, or 2.5 percent, to $25.60 in afternoon trading. The stock has traded between $15.17 and $25.82 in the past 52 weeks.
