The first disappointing rumor we’ve heard about the iPhone 6s
If you were hoping that Apple would finally add more megapixel power to its smartphone cameras with the iPhone 6s, you may be out of luck. G for Games points us to a new report in Taipei Times that claims the upcoming iPhone 6s will still only feature an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, even though some fans may have been hoping for a more pixel-packed 13-megapixel module.

The Taipei Times piece quotes analyst Jeff Pu of Yuanta Securities Investment Consulting Co., who says that Apple plans to stick with an 8-megapixel camera for its next model while also noting that he doesn’t expect to see too many flagship phones make the jump to 16-megapixel and 20-megapixel cameras this year due to supply constraints.
While this rumor may be disappointing to anyone who wanted a higher resolution camera on their next iPhone, we should recall that the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have both been widely lauded for their high camera quality despite the fact that both devices have rear-facing cameras of “only” 8 megapixels. While specifications are important, they don’t tell us everything about a phone’s performance and we imagine the iPhone 6s will still be able to take gorgeous pictures regardless.
