Here is the first look at “The Wolverine,” in which the clawed superhero fights off classic and new villains.
Hugh Jackman returns to the big screen as “X-Men’s” Wolverine in the upcoming movie to battle The Silver Samurai and The Viper, a new, cunning villain.
The film, directed by James Mangold, chronicles Wolverine’s adventures after “X-Men: The Last Stand” as he copes with the death of Jean Grey. Wolverine travels to Japan where he encounters a figure from his past, a man who offers to “end his eternity” and “to make [him] mortal.”
The trailer shows Wolverine looking haggard and unshaven as he tries to run from who he was as he fights off the samurai and other adversaries in the action packed clip.
“The Wolverine” spin-off comes after “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” hit the box office in 2009 and earned $373 million worldwide.
“The Wolverine” is in theaters July 25.
