Every photo has a story, and during the holidays, Yahoo! News asked readers to share one photo, and the story behind it, that holds meaning for them. Here's one.
FIRST PERSON | With a trip to the Mayo Clinic looming over our heads, my daughter Torie decided to make Mike's Christmas a memorable one. We knew it was probably his last unless a transplant happened quickly. Torie decorated the tree, then decorated Mike -- my partner -- with ornaments: an angel for his head and stars for his ears. Captured in this picture is the heartfelt love and joy of this last Christmas we spent together.
During the months that followed that Christmas, we learned Mike had only a few months to live. Torie and I watch as our Mike slowly faded. We learned to leave the medical jargon at the front door and dance between the raindrops of the raging storm of death bearing down on us. On April 22, 2010, Mike drew his last breath. We were so fortunate to have that Christmas together, our last Christmas.
