FIRST PERSON | BEAVERCREEK, Ohio -- The blizzard descending on the Midwest is dropping several inches of snow across roads and walkways, but it is not enough to deter shoppers here southeast of Dayton.
The Green is an outdoor mall in Beavercreek and despite the heavy snow, shoppers are out in force to take advantage of the major sales. Traffic is moving a little slower than normal and walking from store to store is a bit of an adventure, but store employees are working hard to keep their walkways clear for the hearty shoppers streaming in.
"I'm expecting to find some really good deals on the clearance racks," Amy Henkel, a resident of Kettering, said. A short stop in Panera Bread Company was the perfect break from the weather for Henkel and her companions. "This isn't enough snow to stop me" she said as she prepared to head back into the elements.
Clearly others shared her sentiments as The Greene began filling up shortly after the stores opened. Not until the end of the day will it be clear how much the weather has affected shopping today. As the day wears on and snow fall continues, perhaps more people will stay home. Right now, though, the post-Christmas sales are triumphing over Old Man Winter.
