Every photo has a story, and on this Thanksgiving, Yahoo! News asked readers to share one photo, and the story behind it, that holds meaning for them. Here's one.

FIRST PERSON | Thanksgiving 2011 was bittersweet for my family. My husband and I had always eaten with my mom and grandmother around 2 p.m. And we ate with his mother around 7 p.m. By now, they had all passed away. And family members who frequented both homes were now no longer connected.

After 30 years of this routine, I did not have the desire to start a new one. But my daughter did.

She asked me keep her two young sons overnight the day before Thanksgiving. She was volunteering Thanksgiving morning for the Drumstick Dash, which is a race sponsored by the local Rescue Mission to raise money for the homeless.

My daughter prepared Thanksgiving dinner for us all later in the evening. The photo of my grandsons reminds me that even though many loved ones who made holidays enjoyable have passed on, there is a future.

My daughter will be running in the Drumstick Dash this Thanksgiving. And we get to take a new photo. She now has added a beautiful granddaughter to the family.
