Every photo has a story, and on this Thanksgiving, Yahoo! News asked readers to share one photo, and the story behind it, that holds meaning for them. Here's one.
FIRST PERSON | This Thanksgiving table, like all other years past, is where we remember and hope. It may only be a day, but when we are gathered together at this table, Auntie Barbara's table, the table where so many generations before us have gathered, something changes.
You see, it's not just an ordinary table; it is the table where family tradition has us gather together holding hands for a moment of prayer. The Thanksgiving prayer is now said by my brother-in-law, Chuck. He took over the honor of the Thanksgiving prayer shortly after he joined the family in 1987.
Chuck makes sure to start with being thankful for the feast in front of us. We remember the losses we have shared in the past year, as a nation, as a community and as a family, sometimes stopping for a moment of silence.
He touches on how grateful we all should be to be standing in a warm home holding the hand of a loved one, feeling the love circulate the room, through all our hands, all 23 or so of us. For that few minutes we are truly grateful and give thanks and pray for those less fortunate.
