First trailer for 'The Walking Dead' video game

Lee and Clementine must survive against the odds in 'The Walking Dead.'

Hit TV series The Walking Dead is shambling to computers and consoles, as a new cohort of unlikely survivors attempt to escape the zombie apocalypse together.

"It takes place with a new set of characters, right around the Greater Atlantic area, experiencing this apocalypse from a different perspective" explained Telltale Games designer Sean Vanaman in a previous 'Making Of' video.

Escaped convict Lee Everett teams up with orphan girl Clementine who offers a more youthful perspective on loss, redemption, and family.

Though the game is based on the original comic books rather than the TV series, there are some characters that appear in all three.

"If you know who Rick is, and who Glenn is, and who Hershel is, they're in the game as well as in the comic, as well as in the TV show," elaborated fellow designer Jake Rodkin.

Telltale Games is more than familiar with adventure games, film and TV; previous game projects include four CSI spin-offs, a Law & Order title, and episodic series based on Jurassic Park and Back to the Future.

The Walking Dead game is confirmed for Mac, PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, with "information on additional formats to follow"; both Back to the Future and Jurassic Park appeared on iPad as well so The Walking Dead appears likely to make a similar journey toward tablets.

Meanwhile, British export Dr Who is heading to PS3, Vita and PC in the form of Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock, and, just like The Walking Dead, doing so in April 2012.
