Fitness App for Epson Pulsense Tells You When to Stop Working Out

First unveiled at CES 2014, Epson's Pulsense fitness watch keeps track of your heart via a unique light that measures your red blood cells. The wearable is gaining some traction from developers, as California-based startup Custom Fit 4 You showcased a new fitness app that uses the Pulsense to let you know when your body has had enough.

Available now on iOS, Custom Fit 4 You provides an easily navigable interface for choosing what type of workout you're performing, whether you're hitting the weight bench or going for a quick jog on the treadmill. The app tracks your reps, heart rate and calories burned, and even provides a sample video to help you get your form right.

You can set goals for reps performed and amount of weight lifted, and track your progress towards those goals in real time. The app's background will glow green if everything's going smoothly, or turn red when the Pulsense (or any other compatible fitness band) detects that you're pushing your heart rate a bit too hard.

The core CF4U app is free, though you can utilize extra features with two paid models. CF4U Plus ($4.99 per month) gives you unlimited access to all workouts provided by the app, with daily tips from the company's certified personal trainers. If you spring for CF4U Max ($19.99 per month), you'll get all of the aforementioned features in addition to an exercise and nutrition guide, and a fitness game that allows you to challenge friends to complete workouts.

If you're looking to use CF4U with Epson's Pulsense, you'll have to wait until summer of this year. The fitness tracker will ship for $199 with an LCD display, or $129 if you can live without one.
