Fitness fanatics get pumped for Australia's first ever Exhilarate Zumba Fitness-Concert

Zumba Fitness creator Beto Perez will be traveling down under to host Australia’s first ever Fitness-Concert.

The Exhilarate Zumba Fitness-Concert is best described as a fusion between a massive pop concert and a fitness workout all rolled into one.

The flagship Australian event will take place during the Australian Fitness & Health Expo and will see over 3,000 participants, plus a full crew of dancers and producers, lights, costumes and a massive sound system, dancing it out at the Sydney Convention Centre on April 28.

Relaxnews went one-on-one with Beto Perez to find out more about the event and to discover what’s new in the world of Zumba.

“Zumba Fitness is now the largest branded fitness program in the world with more than 12 million weekly class participants, in over 110,000 locations, across more than 125 countries,” explained Perez. “The Zumba program is most established in Australia, the US, the UK, Netherlands, Germany, France and Italy but it’s rapidly building momentum in other countries as well, particularly Spain, Brazil and southeast Asia.”

If you’re not familiar with the massive Fitness-Concert events, Perez says to “[t]hink of a concert you’ve been to in the past -- the vibe it had, the sound, the adrenaline. Now imagine mixing it with hot global dance routines and a crowd of thousands moving in unison. We will bring to life the Zumba Exhilarate DVDs.”

The Exhilarate Zumba Fitness-Concert will be the first ever to take place in Australia but similar events have been held in the US and the UK with big name stars like American rapper Pitbull.

The biggest annual Zumba event in the world, the 2012 Zumba Convention, will take place in Orlando in August and expects to attract around 7,000 people. One of the main focuses at the event will be Zumba Toning, a new style of Zumba that aims to work the body’s core muscles through a blend of dance and resistance training.

“Zumba Toning is a big focus for us at the moment,” said Perez. “The new specialty takes the thrill of the Zumba fitness-party and creatively combines resistance training with the use of lightweight maraca-like toning sticks. Adding lightweight toning sticks that firm and body sculpt is a natural progression from the original Zumba Fitness routines.”

Variations of the Latin dance-inspired workout are already gaining traction with exercisers -- Zumba for Kids, Aqua Zumba, Zumba Gold, and Zumba Sentao are just a few of the Zumba styled classes on offer around the globe -- but Perez says he aims to expand the Zumba brand in the future with additional Zumba classes and brand new music.

“We are definitely planning on releasing different variations of Zumba classes and we're starting to move into the music platform, teaming up with artists like Pitbull to create fantastic music and routines,” said Perez.
