Five Great Pumpkin Patches in the Kansas City Area

As fall arrives and the weather cools off, it is time to celebrate the harvest. Kansas City is perfectly situated for Missouri and Kansas as just outside the city limits there exists pristine farmland that is perfect for autumn family fun.

Liberty Corn Maze, Carolyn's Pumpkin Patch

Liberty is just a short drive northeast of Kansas City along I-35. South of Liberty close to the Missouri River exists a hidden treasure of fall family fun called the Liberty Corn Maze. One of the largest corn mazes in the state, the 1,000,000 square-foot maze is an homage to the Kansas City Comets soccer team. There are five mazes to traverse. Hours are Friday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturdays 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sundays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Adjacent to the corn maze is Carolyn's Pumpkin Patch where kids can pick pumpkins, go on hayrides and participate in all kinds of fun activities. Admission to the corn maze is $10 for adults, $8 for children. The pumpkin patch costs $8 per person weekdays and $10 per person Friday through Sunday. Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. all seven days a week for the Pumpkin Patch.

KC Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze

On the Kansas side of the state line exists a wonderful pumpkin patch with all kinds of activities for families. The KC Pumpkin and Corn Maze is located southwest of the city proper in Gardner, Kan. Kids can play on a rope spider web, pick pumpkins from a huge pumpkin patch and enjoy a corn maze adjacent to the patch. Admission to the pumpkin patch is $10 and the corn maze is $8. The maze honors the 2011 Sporting Kansas City soccer team of Major League Soccer. Hours are Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. for the pumpkin patch.

Faulkner's Pumpkin Farm

Faulkner's is an event center and ranch that is converted into a pumpkin patch for the early fall. There are hayrides, a petting zoo and a field maze. Admission is $7 for basic activities. Additional purchases can get you into the corn cannon, fishing at the pond, and a zip line for children. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day.

Johnson Farms Plants & Pumpkins

Johnson Farms celebrates its 10th anniversary of providing family fun due south of Kansas City. Wagon rides, a petting zoo and a corn maze are there in addition to picking pumpkins of all shapes and sizes. Monday through Friday costs $8 per person while admission goes up to $10 per person on weekends. Hours go from noon until 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and then weekends from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Pumpkins and Pines

Pumpkins and Pines is a farm that specializes in holiday activities beginning with a huge pumpkin patch in late September and then Christmas trees in late November. Admission is free but there are tons of varieties of pumpkins, squash and gourds to pick that are perfect for the fall harvest. The farm is open from Sunday through Friday from noon to six and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
