FoldersSynchronizer for Mac review

FoldersSynchronizer quickly synchronizes and backs up all forms of digital content, including files and disks, and offers many tools to give you total control of your files. Despite its powerful abilities, this program may be too risky for some individuals because of possible data loss.

Pros

Many features: We were blown away by the number of options that FoldersSynchronizer offers, especially those that provide automatic services, like the sync timer and AppleScripts support. This program offers multiple back-up options that successfully preserved our data during tests and alleviated some concerns.

Fast operation: FoldersSynchronizer performs rather quickly at both backing up and synchronizing content. We noted that most operations took under five minutes for small folders and fewer than 30 minutes for large folders and disks.

Cons

Lost content: During two of our exact synchronization tests, a handful of files were completely lost. While this is not the default sync option, it is still a component of FoldersSynchronizer, and those who work with important information may find this feature to be a moderate risk.

Difficult usability: We were unsatisfied with the design of FoldersSynchronizer. The user interface of this program was hard to understand during initial testing, and the how-to preview, and other support options did not offer a clear-cut explanation of this application's controls and abilities.

Bottom Line

Once you spend enough time with FoldersSynchronizer, you will understand its basic operations and realize how useful its features are compared to Mac OS's default Time Machine. Overall, FoldersSynchronizer has great potential, but because of its difficulties, we suggest looking into better designed programs.

Editors' note: This is a review of the trial version of FoldersSynchronizer for Mac 4.1.0.
