Oscar winner Jamie Foxx defended outspoken director Quentin Tarantino, who is under fire for comments he made at an anti-police violence rally in New York City a week ago.

Foxx. who starred in Tarantino’s 2012 film, Django Unchained, introduced the cast of the director’s latest film, The Hateful Eight, at the award show. Tarantino was not present at the show.

It comes a week after Tarantino said during a rally“I'm a human being with a conscience and if you believe there's murder going on then you need to rise up and stand up against it. I'm here to say I'm on the side of the murdered."

According to TheWrap.com, Tarantino might publish an op-ed piece apologizing and explaining his comments.

The news of Tarantino’s possible apology should come as welcome relief to Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein who is reportedly furious at the director for the comments which come just a month before the release of their new movie.

Even the director’s own estranged father Tony Tarantino is publicly denouncing his son's comments, saying in this statement: "I love my son and have great respect for him as an artist but he is dead wrong in calling police officers, particularly in New York City where I grew up, murderers."

Tony Tarantino told INSIDE EDITION: “When I see a Quentin blaming the all for the mistakes of a few, it hurts.”

Quentin Tarantino did not respond to our request for comment but he has said in the past that he has never met his father and his father was never a part of his life.
