Forget the Nexus 7, Samsung is reportedly readying a $129 tablet
Google’s Nexus 7 tablet is a tremendous value at just $229, but Samsung’s next 7-inch tablet may offer a value that is unprecedented among slates from big-name tablet makers. According to a report on Monday from Digitimes, which cites unnamed sources from Samsung’s component supply chain, Samsung is getting ready to debut a new tablet dubbed “Galaxy Tab 3 Lite.” The device will be part of Samsung’s new entry-level tablet series and will be priced at just $129 according to Digitimes’ sources. At that price, Samsung’s Tab 3 Lite would undercut Google’s Nexus 7 by $100 and it would be about $170 less expensive than Apple’s entry-level iPad mini. The Galaxy Tab 3 Lite will reportedly launch sometime in the first quarter this year and it will feature a 7-inch 1024 x 600-pixel display, a 1.2GHz Cortex A9 processor, 1GB of storage, a 3-megapixel camera and Android 4.2.
