FOX: New iMacs to be unveiled during next week’s iPhone 5 event [updated]

Apple’s (AAPL) iPhone 5 will reportedly share the stage at next week’s press conference with a new lineup of iMac all-in-one computers, according to a new report. Citing multiple unnamed sources, FOX News is reporting that Apple will debut new iMac desktop computers next week and they likely will not include new high-resolution Retina displays as some earlier rumors suggested they might. Apple’s iPhone event seems a peculiar time to unveil new iMacs — the event is expected to otherwise be dedicated to mobile devices including the iPhone 5 and new iPod devices, as well as Apple’s new iOS 6 operating system. Apple’s press conference is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. EDT, 10:00 a.m. PDT on September 12th.

UPDATE: FOX News has updated its original story to remove the claim that the new iMacs may be announced at next week’s event. Now, the site simply reports that new iMacs are “imminent.”
