Fox Orders Family Comedy Pilot From Dana Klein & Aaron Kaplan

Fox has given a pilot order to a fourth comedy for the 2015-16 cycle.

Exec produced by Dana Klein and Aaron Kaplan for 20th Century Fox TV and Kapital Entertainment, the untitled half-hour multicamera comedy tells the story of a working mom who’s in constant competition with her perfect stay-at-home sister-in-law.

Klein will pen the project, which previously landed a put pilot order. Originally, the Untitled Dana Klein pilot was described as a sibling rivalry comedy between two competitive brothers. Variety has learned the pilot was tweaked because the creative team found the new female-centric version to be more compelling.

Already ordered at Fox are two other comedy pilots: an untitled series starring John Stamos and “48 Hours ‘Til Monday” from Charlie Grandy and Universal TV. Ryan Murphy’s “Scream Queens,” starring Lea Michele, is also on the 2015-16 slate, ordered to series.

The net has also ordered five dramas thus far, including “Luther,” based on the BBC hit, and “Minority Report,” adapted from Steven Spielberg’s 2002 film.

Klein (“Friends”) and Kaplan (“Chasing Life,” “Mysteries of Laura”) previously worked together on CBS’ “Friends With Better Lives,” which was also produced by 20th Century Fox TV and Kapital Entertainment.
