Wisconsin cops are looking through dumpsters and interviewing neighbors as part of a massive search for a newborn who disappeared in the middle of the night.

Kayden Powell is 6 days old. His mother, Brianna Marshall, 18, told authorities Thursday that she woke up to find her son gone, missing from his bassinet in the same room where she slept.

The disappearance happened in Beloit, a town located along Wisconsin’s southern border. The FBI has joined local and state police on the case, and authorities are hopeful that one of their leads will help them find little Kayden.

Investigators say there were no signs of a break-in at the home, and the parents are cooperating. The baby’s father, Bruce Powell, 23, and two other family members were also staying in the house, including Kristen Smith. Smith was arrested Thursday on an unrelated charge about 170 miles away in Iowa.

At this point, Smith is not considered a person of interest in Kayden’s disappearance.

Beloit Police Chief Steve Kopp said the case remains troubling for authorities.

“Investigators continue to evaluate the information being compiled, but at this time no suspects have been identified and no arrests have been made,” Kopp said.

Kayden’s relatives, including his grand-uncle Mark Bennett, are haunted by the disappearance.

“I’m already devastated cause he’s gone,” Bennett said. “I’ve held my great-nephew one time.”
