Relatives of a man discovered with a stab wound in his bedroom have asked the public to help catch his killer.

Nobody has been brought to justice for the murder of Kevin Lomas, which happened more than three years ago.

The 56-year-old was found inside a property in Hall Green, Birmingham, on 2 April 2021.

On Thursday, West Midlands Police released CCTV showing his last known movements captured in the days before he was found with fatal wounds.

In a statement issued through officers, Mr Lomas' family said they had struggled after losing him in such terrible circumstances.

“You’re the missing link in our family," relatives said.

"Considering you were quite shy when you were young, you embodied everything in life that was bright.

“If anyone felt low, Kevin would lift you. If you needed help Kev would give you a helping hand.

"He just wanted everyone to be happy and enjoy life as he wanted to do so himself. Tragically this was taken from him. Our poor brother.”

'Do the right thing'

A man and a woman previously arrested on suspicion of murder were later released on bail, the force said.

Det Ch Insp Laura Harrison, leading the investigation, said she had not been able to get Mr Lomas' loved ones the answers they deserved.

“We’ve carried out lots of inquiries in the area including CCTV, witness and forensic work but sadly we’ve not been able to gather enough evidence to charge anyone with Kevin’s murder," she said.

“Now that some time has lapsed I’m hoping there are people who know who is responsible for this and that they realise that now is the time to do the right thing and come forward.”
