One of this fall's most anticipated shows is Fleishman Is in Trouble, based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Taffy Brodesser-Akner. The plot tells the tale of a recently separated Manhattan doctor, Toby (Jesse Eisenberg), who begins to date again—only for his ex-wife, Rachel (Claire Danes) to disappear and leave him with their two children. Soon, two old friends (Lizzy Caplan and Adam Brody) come back into his life. As the tag line reads, " It's about life. And marriage. And so much more."

Here's everything you need to know about the show.

The show stars Jesse Eisenberg, Claire Danes, Lizzy Caplan, and Adam Brody.

Jesse Eisenberg plays Toby Fleishman, the titular "Fleishman," who struggles in the aftermath of his divorce from Rachel, played by Claire Danes, a talent agent. Lizzy Caplan takes on the role of Libby, a friend of Toby's from college, who also narrates the show; Adam Brody will play Seth, another old friend. In the book, Toby, Seth, and Libby all study abroad in Israel together. The cast is rounded out by Josh Radnor, Christian Slater, Meara Mahoney Gross, Maxim Swinton, Michael Gaston, Ralph Adriel, Shi Ne Nielson, and Joy Suprano.

The show filmed in and around New York City. In October, FX released the first trailer (watch above).

The show is based on the book by Taffy Brodesser-Akner.

Here's the plot summary: "Toby Fleishman thought he knew what to expect when he and his wife of almost fifteen years separated: weekends and every other holiday with the kids, some residual bitterness, the occasional moment of tension in their co-parenting negotiations. He could not have predicted that one day, in the middle of his summer of sexual emancipation, Rachel would just drop their two children off at his place and simply not return. He had been working so hard to find equilibrium in his single life. The winds of his optimism, long dormant, had finally begun to pick up. Now this.

As Toby tries to figure out where Rachel went, all while juggling his patients at the hospital, his never-ending parental duties, and his new app-assisted sexual popularity, his tidy narrative of the spurned husband with the too-ambitious wife is his sole consolation. But if Toby ever wants to truly understand what happened to Rachel and what happened to his marriage, he is going to have to consider that he might not have seen things all that clearly in the first place."

Brodesser-Akner was extremely involved in the entire show—she created it for television—and she often shared behind-the-scenes sneak peaks at production on her Twitter:

Fleishman Is in Trouble premieres November 17.

The first two episodes will drop on Hulu, and the subsequent six episodes will be released weekly on Thursdays.
