Funny Smash Bros. Ad Reveals Nintendo President's Love of Pancakes

If you ever wanted to see a hockey player deliver a plate of pancakes to Nintendo of America's president and then watch as he pours maple syrup over them and has an epiphany, you're in luck. Nintendo of Canada today released a funny new video showing Reggie Fils-Aime doing just that to promote the upcoming release of Super Smash Bros. In Canada, of course.

Nintendo put the video together to hype the "Super Smash Club," which sounds like a riff on Chuck Palahniuk's Fight Club. The first rule of the Super Smash Club is that fans will get to decide the rules. From September 18 to 26, you can visit Nintendo of Canada's Facebook page or tweet at @NintendoCanada to suggest a rule for Super Smash Club.

There will be 10 rules in all, and the full set will be disclosed through Nintendo of Canada's social channels on September 30. These rules will be used at all upcoming Super Smash Club events. If one of the rules you submitted was chosen for the final list, you'll be entered into a random draw for a shot at winning one of twenty Super Smash Bros. branded towels. Why a towel? We don't know. Maybe Nintendo thinks you'll use it wipe the sweat from your forehead after an intense Smash Bros. match?

The Super Smash Club is a partnership between Nintendo and Canadian retailer Future Shop. There will be in-store events at select locations across the country, as well as marquee events at various venues in the Great White North. You can see full details about the Super Smash Club and how to participate at Nintendo of Canada's website.

Super Smash Bros. for 3DS was released last week in Japan to sales of one million copies in two days. The game launches on October 3 in North America, but you can try it ahead of time when a demo launches this Friday. Meanwhile, the Wii U version is scheduled to arrive this holiday season, possibly in November.
