    Furyk, Simpson tied for US Open lead

    SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Jim Furyk and Webb Simpson are tied heading into the home stretch of the U.S. Open.

    Furyk saved par with a 30-foot putt on the 12th hole before following with a bogey to fall into a tie with Simpson at 1 over in a foggy final round Sunday at The Olympic Club.

    Furyk was 2 over on his round through 15. Simpson was 2 under through 17.

    Michael Thompson shot a 3-under 67 to take the clubhouse lead at 2 over. The 27-year-old was the runner-up at the U.S. Amateur at Olympic Club in 2007.

    Tiger Woods finished with a final-round 73 — seven over for the tournament. The 14-time major champion dropped six strokes in the first six holes, including a double bogey on the par-3 third when he chunked a shot out of the rough and two-putted.
