Galaxy S6 Edge Priced $100 Higher Than S6

The Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge are awfully similar, but the price tag for each sure won't be. Starting on March 27, you'll be able to pre-order both from AT&T, but if you want the version with a wrap around display, it will cost you over an extra $100.

The 32GB Galaxy S6 will cost $22.84 per month on AT&T's Next Plan, while the 32GB Galaxy S6 Edge will run you $27.17 per month. After two years, that's a total of $548 for the standard S6, and a heftier $652 for the Edge variant. That comes out to $104.

So what does that extra $100 get you? As its name implies, the S6's only distinguishing feature is its curved display that spills over the phone's left and right edges. The Edge's rounded display allows you to swipe in your favorite contacts, and access a handful of news and information tickers on the sides when the main display is off. The display also allows the S6 to provide light-up notifications when the phone is face down, and doubles as a clock when face-up with the rest of the screen is powered down.

Other than that, the S6 and S6 Edge both offer a 5.1-inch, quad HD display, 64-bit octa-core processor and a 16-megapixel camera that's speedier than that of the S5. The S6 and the S6 Edge are the first Galaxy S phones to ditch plastic in favor of a slick, metal-and-glass construction, and are the first phones in their family that can be charged wirelessly.

Based on our hands-on time with both phones, the extra-premium S6 and S6 Edge could be the most enticing Galaxy S phones yet, regardless of whether or not you splurge for the Edge's curves. Stay tuned for our full review.
