Galaxy S6 edge vs. iPhone 6 Plus camera shootout: Samsung’s newest camera is incredible

The iPhone 6 Plus has been widely acclaimed for its camera, which is seen by many as one of the best you can get on a smartphone. However, Samsung has always shown itself to be a formidable challenger in this realm and its new Galaxy S6 edge may well have the very best camera of all time.

Danish website Mobilsiden.dk has posted a new photo shootout that compares photos taken with the Galaxy S6 edge and the iPhone 6 Plus and it looks like the S6 edge absolutely smokes Apple’s biggest iPhone in most important areas. Here, for example, are some closeup photos taken with each device. The iPhone 6 Plus pictures are on top and the S6 edge photos are on the bottom:

Pictures taken with each device in low-light settings, which you can find at this Imgur page, are even more illuminating as they show how the S6 edge takes much clearer photos than the iPhone 6 Plus in less-than-ideal lighting conditions.

Mobilsiden.dk author Niels de Boissezon writes on Reddit that the S6 edge he used had the final version of the camera software installed, which means anyone who buys the device should expect to take gorgeous pictures right out of the box. And while this is only one camera shootout, we know Samsung’s history with smartphone cameras well enough to believe that the S6 edge really is going to have the camera to beat in 2015.
