Game Room Ideas: Turn Your Entire Wall Into a Giant Nintendo

From Popular Mechanics

If you're going to build a game room for your family, you may as well make it look like one. One Imgur user, going by tylerfulltilt, did just that, redecorating the room to look exactly like the classic Nintendo Entertainment System from the 1980s.

He posted a step-by-step to the process, which is a combination of hardware store parts and a redecorated cabinet from Overstock.com. He built a Nintendo controller out of plywood, placing it on the wall to frame an LCD TV. As many commenters have pointed out, the TV is a little high, so you may want to lower it if you emulate the build.

The cabinet was repainted to look like the console itself. The drawers in the cabinet are then used for storing actual game consoles and games. Black tubing hides the cables running to the TV and gives a further impression of old Nintendo design while helping give a cleaner appearance.

In the end, it's a clever way to overhaul a room, even if it may need some overall minor tweaks to make it work for you (perhaps even putting the control more level with the console to prevent these neck craning kids from getting weary bones.) And purists may want a two button control, unless you decide to go for a Sega Genesis six button control scheme with your own.
