Gay rights protesters urge boycott of Sochi Games

NEW YORK (AP) — A group of gay rights protesters are calling for a boycott of the Sochi Games at a U.S. Olympic Committee event in Times Square.

As athletes began to speak on a temporary stage Tuesday, commemorating 100 days until the games in Russia, about a dozen people on a nearby sidewalk unveiled a rainbow banner reading, "Don't Buy Putin's Lies."

Their chants, "Including homophobia has got to go," mixed with the athletes answering questions about training and gold medals.
