Geneva Motor Show: ten concepts you shouldn't miss

Toyota FT-Bh

The Geneva Motor Show is one of the best events of the year to find out what the world's automakers have up their sleeves. Here a look at some of the concepts you shouldn't miss.

Bentley EXP 9F
So obvious and yet so breathtaking all at the same time -- Bentleys are big enough and powerful enough to easily make the jump to an SUV form. This concept could push Bentley luxury into a whole new segment if it proves enough of a hit.

Volkswagen Cross Coupé
The Cross Coupé isn't a new concept, but it's been given a new lease of life by VW's decision to include a plug-in hybrid engine. This super-efficient beast manages a combined fuel consumption of just 1.8 l/100 km -- equivalent to CO2 emissions of just 46 g/km.

Infiniti Emerg-E
This long-awaited concept previews Infiniti's future technologies and design directions, boasting a hybrid engine capable of 0-60mph (97km) in just four seconds.

Nissan INVITATION
This is a preview of a forthcoming car in the Nissan range, slotting between the Micra city car and the Juke crossover. Described as 'fun and frugal', emissions will clock in at under 100g/km.

Toyota FT-Bh
This efficient and affordable hybrid showcases Toyota's materials expertise, with a weight of under 800kg despite being longer than the company's Yaris. Emissions run at 49g/km, Toyota says.

Hyundai i-oniq Concept
An elegant concept that has clearly taken a cue or two from Aston Martin, but it looks great and is efficient to boot, operating a range-extended electric motor.

Range Rover Evoque Convertible
Not everybody was wowed by the idea of a three-door, convertible Evoque, but it looks a lot better than many of the convertible SUVs out there -- fingers crossed for production.

Pininfarina Cambiano
Wooden floors, electric-blue cockpit, diesel-powered turbine propulsion -- this futuristic concept is a car designer's dream, as well as an environmentalist's.

Volkswagen Up!
Volkswagen appears to enjoy dressing the Up! like a doll, launching four new concepts on top of the multitude it wheeled out at the Frankfurt Motor Show. But they're fun, as well as underlining that VW almost certainly has a hit, given just how versatile the Up! is.

Magna Steyr MILA Coupic
Frankly, it's a surprise it's taken this long for someone to transform an SUV into a pickup truck, but the MILA Coupic finally does it. Thanks to clever modular seats and a sliding roof, the model shifts between SUV, pickup and cabriolet in seconds.
