Germany has a simple proposition for Facebook (FB) regarding its facial-recognition technology: either get user permission before employing it or get rid of it. As ZDNet reports, Germany’s data protection authority has not taken too kindly to what it says are Facebook’s half-hearted efforts to address its concerns over its facial recognition features. Specifically, the agency says it wants Facebook to either “inform us about an acceptable method obtaining consent by the concerned users or to confirm the deletion of the collected facial data at any time.” If Facebook fails to come up with an acceptable solution, the agency says it will take the matter into its own hands.
