Girl found alive under bodies after French Alps shootout

PARIS - A French prosecutor says a 4-year-old girl has been found alive in a British-registered car holding three corpses shot to death in the French Alps.

Annecy Prosecutor Eric Maillaud said earlier Thursday that the girl "had stayed under the bodies, lying down about eight hours" before police found her.

In remarks to journalists at the site, he said the girl was speaking English but couldn't describe what had happened. She was taken into police care.

Another girl was hospitalized with bullet wounds and four adults were found killed in the BMW on a forest road Wednesday.

The identities of the victims were not released.

Police blocked off the area and are combing the forest for possible perpetrators.
